Training workshop for government officials on drafting report on ICESCR (Jerba, 10-12 June 2021)

The workshop was held from 10 to 12 June 2021 in Jerba (Tunisia) to prepare the third report on the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights in Libya under Articles 16 and 17 of the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights. Based on the recommendations of the Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights on Libya’s previous reports, and the guidelines adopted by the Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights at its fifth session from November 26 to December 14, 1990, and revised at its forty-ninth meeting (forty-first session), On November 18, 2008.

 

Objectives

The objective of the training workshop was to strengthen and develop the capacities of the members of the N"ational team" charged with preparing the third report on the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, and a number of government officials concerned with human rights to use the process of preparing the report as an opportunity to assess the status of the commitment to implement the provisions of the Covenant in Libya, and the progress achieved Identify the most important difficulties and challenges in the field, and enable them to develop a plan to complete the report within the specified deadlines, based on the guiding principles and standards on the document of the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights.

Participants

25 participants, including members of the "Technical team", and a number of relevant ministries and law enforcement agencies, such as the Ministries of Justice, Interior, Foreign Affairs, Health and Social Affairs, Social Solidarity Fund, Education and the Higher Committee for Childhood, participated in this workshop.

Main results: Completion of 04 preliminary projects for thematic reports that are part of the comprehensive initial report.
