Training workshop for government officials on drafting the report on ICRPD (Jerba, 7-9 June 2021)

The workshop was held from 7 to 9 June 2021 in Djerba (Tunisia), to prepare the initial report on the rights of persons with disabilities in Libya pursuant to paragraph 01 of Article 35 of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, and based on the “Guiding Principles on the Special Document related to the IICRPD prepared by the Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities

Workshop Objectives

The objective of the workshop was to strengthen the capacities of members of the "National team" charged with preparing the initial report on the International Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (ICRPD), and the members of the "National Council for the Issues and Rights of Persons with Disabilities" and a number of government officials concerned with human rights, and to use the process of preparing the report as an opportunity to assess the status of the rights of persons with disabilities In Libya, the progress achieved, identifying the most important difficulties and challenges in the field, and enabling them to develop a plan to complete the report within the specified deadlines, based on the guiding principles and standards on the document on the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

Participants

25 participants, including members of the "Technical team", members of the "National Council for the Issues and Rights of Persons with Disabilities", officvials from relevant ministries and law enforcement agencies, such as the Ministries of Justice, Interior, Foreign Affairs, Health and Social Affairs, Social Solidarity Fund, Education and the Higher Committee participated in this workshop. for childhood.

Results

- Completion of 04 preliminary projects for thematic reports that are part of the comprehensive initial report.
